Three-Year-Old Girl Fatally Shot in Karachi Due to Family Dispute

In a tragic turn of events, a three-year-old girl lost her life, while her mother sustained injuries during a firing incident in Surjani Town, Karachi. The incident occurred on Thursday and is believed to stem from an ongoing family dispute. The young victim has been identified as Jannat, while her injured mother is named Meerub.

The maternal grandfather of Meerub addressed the media in the presence of the Surjani Town station house officer (SHO), shedding light on the circumstances leading up to the unfortunate incident. According to him, Meerub, a divorced woman, developed a friendship with a man named Arif, and the two would often spend time together. However, Arif’s association with Meerub caused numerous altercations with their family members.

He further recounted how Meerub’s brother-in-law, Masood, saw both Meerub and Arif together on the night of the incident. Consumed by anger, Masood fired shots at them. In a bid to defend himself, Arif retaliated by also discharging his weapon. Tragically, it was during this exchange of gunfire that Meerub sustained injuries and her innocent three-year-old daughter, Jannat, lost her life.

Following the incident, both Arif and Masood fled from the scene. Authorities recovered four 30-bore pistol shells from the crime scene. Shedding light on the matter, Surjani Town SHO Amjad Kiyani confirmed that the firing incident was a result of the ongoing family dispute. He revealed that Saud Sheikh, the brother-in-law of the injured woman, was the alleged culprit who had fired the shots before making his escape.

Law enforcement agencies are actively investigating the incident, collecting statements from eyewitnesses and examining evidence from the crime scene. It is expected that the accused will be apprehended in the near future.

The heart-wrenching incident has left the community in shock and grief, highlighting the devastating consequences that can arise from interpersonal conflicts. It serves as a grim reminder of the urgent need to address such disputes through peaceful means, in order to protect innocent lives and maintain social harmony.

While the investigation continues and justice is sought for Jannat, it is essential for society to come together to promote understanding, empathy, and dialogue as means to resolve conflicts, ensuring a safer environment for all. Our thoughts and condolences go out to the bereaved family, praying for strength and healing during this immensely difficult time.
