Haryana CM Encourages Car-Free Tuesdays to Tackle Pollution
In an effort to combat pollution, the Chief Minister of Haryana, Manohar Lal Khattar, has introduced a new initiative called Car-Free Tuesdays. Starting from September 1, every Tuesday will be designated as a car-free day in the city of Karnal. This move aims to encourage government officials and the public to travel by bicycle instead.
To show his support for this initiative, CM Khattar recently took a bike ride to Karnal airport. In a message shared on social media, he emphasized the importance of public cooperation in achieving goals like Car Free Tuesdays and the ambition of creating a drug-free Haryana. The Chief Minister hopes that his actions will inspire and motivate people to give up their cars for just one day.
The campaign for a drug-free Haryana was also kickstarted by CM Khattar when he flagged off a cyclothon in Yamunanagar. This initiative, titled Cyclothon for a Drug-Free Haryana, aims to raise awareness about the detrimental effects of drug addiction. CM Khattar stressed the significance of continuous public awareness and taking action against drug smugglers to eradicate this problem from its roots.
During the Cyclothon Yatra Closing Ceremony in Karnal, attendees expressed their commitment to combat drug addiction and various resolutions were made towards achieving a drug-free society.
CM Khattar’s efforts to promote car-free days and a drug-free Haryana highlight the government’s dedication to tackling environmental pollution and social issues. By encouraging sustainable transportation options and raising awareness about drug addiction, CM Khattar aims to bring about positive change in the state.
The introduction of Car-Free Tuesdays in Karnal is a step in the right direction towards reducing pollution levels. By choosing bicycles over cars, government officials and citizens can contribute to cleaner air and a healthier environment. The success of this initiative relies on the cooperation and participation of the people. With CM Khattar leading by example, it is hoped that the people of Haryana will follow suit and embrace car-free days as a way to fight pollution.
As Haryana takes these significant steps towards a greener and drug-free future, it is expected that other states and regions will take inspiration from these initiatives. The Chief Minister’s emphasis on public cooperation and awareness serves as a reminder that individual actions can make a collective difference in addressing societal challenges.
