Prime Minister Narendra Modi has stressed the importance of digitalisation for meaningful policy-making, efficient resource allocation and effective public service delivery, while also highlighting the issue of the growing data divide. Speaking at the G20 Development Ministers’ meeting in Varanasi, Modi emphasised that democratisation of technology is a crucial tool in bridging the data divide. Discussing India’s experience with development, he noted it has made efforts to improve people’s lives in more than a hundred Aspirational Districts. The prime minister also emphasised the collective responsibility of people to ensure that the Sustainable Development Goals are achieved.
