Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar, popularly known as DKS, visited the Mahakal temple in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh on Sunday to offer prayers and participate in the ‘Bhasma Aarti’. The ritual is performed during the ‘Brahma Muhurta’ between 4 am and 5.30 am.
Speaking to media persons after performing the Bhasma Aarti, DKS said that he had come to seek blessings of Mahakaleshwar, who had given their government the opportunity to serve the people of Karnataka. He also stated that they were going to implement all of their five promises while launching a great programme that will provide free buses to all women in Karnataka.
He was seen chanting prayers in the ‘Nandi Hall’ of the temple with Rudraksha rosary beads in his hands before going to the sanctum-sanctorum to perform ‘Jalabhishek’ of Baba Mahakal. Congress MLAs Mahesh Parmar and Jeetu Patwari were also present on the occasion.
After the Bhasma Aarti, DKS mentioned that Hindutva, temples, and God are not the personal property of BJP and they belong to everybody. He claimed that the people of Madhya Pradesh are also in trouble owing to corruption like in Karnataka. He believes that the double engine government in MP will also be changed, paving the way for Congress to form the next government.
DK Shivakumar’s visit to the shrine is seen as a thanksgiving trip after the Congress won a thumping majority in the recent Karnataka assembly elections. He arrived in Madhya Pradesh on Saturday afternoon and completed his two-day trip with a visit to the Mahakal temple.
