A 28-year-old man has been apprehended in Ratlam district of Madhya Pradesh for allegedly abducting and raping a nine-year-old girl who was sleeping outside her house with her grandmother. Rajendra Singh, the alleged perpetrator, allegedly took the child to a nearby farm where he raped her. The girl’s grandmother woke up and realized the child was missing, prompting her and nearby residents to launch a search party. The girl was eventually found, crying, in a nearby farm, and was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment. The incident occurred Saturday night, and the accused was taken into custody the following day.
Based on the statements made by relatives of the victim, the accused was later booked and charged under Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
The Namli Police Station officer-in-charge, Additional Superintendent of Police Rakesh Khaka, confirmed that the incident was reported under his precinct. After gathering statements from eyewitnesses and the victim’s relatives, the accused was arrested and taken into custody.
Medical treatment for the victim is currently underway at Mother & Child Hospital (MCH) in Ratlam. Following the incident, it is essential for the Indian government to take stringent measures to ensure that such offenses are severely punished and discourage further cases of child sexual violence.
