Mark C. Hanna to Assume President and CEO Role at Glen Burnie Bancorp and The Bank of Glen Burnie
Glen Burnie Bancorp, the parent company of The Bank of Glen Burnie, has announced the appointment of Mark C. Hanna as the incoming President and CEO. He will succeed John D. Long, who had previously revealed his plans to retire. This transition is set to take place on October 16, 2023, following Mr. Hanna’s initial appointment as Executive Vice President on October 2, 2023.
John E. Demyan, Chairman of the Board of Glen Burnie Bancorp, expressed his enthusiasm for Hanna joining the leadership team: His energy and enthusiasm, combined with decades of leadership experience specific to community banking, will be an asset to our shareholders, employees, and customers. Demyan also commended Hanna’s proven track record in generating low-cost deposit growth, maintaining asset quality, and driving digital adoption strategy.

Mark C. Hanna brings with him over 30 years of banking experience, including serving as President and CEO at F&M Bank, a community bank in Virginia’s Shenandoah Valley. He has also held key leadership positions in Eastern Virginia Bankshares’ Tidewater Region and Virginia Company Bank (now part of Primis Financial Corp.). Hanna’s involvement in the banking industry extends to serving on the Board of Directors of both the Virginia Association of Community Banks and the Benefits Corporation of the Virginia Bankers Association. He has also been the Federal Delegate for the State of Virginia to the Independent Community Bankers Association.
Beyond banking, Mr. Hanna is actively engaged with various community organizations and non-profits, demonstrating his passion for community development. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Wake Forest University and a Master of Business Administration from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.
