Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has praised voters in his constituency Varuna, expressing his gratitude to supporters in the region for helping to bring down what he called evil politics. Speaking at a large gathering to thank his voters and party workers, Siddaramaiah claimed that citizens across the state had dealt a blow against corruption, mismanagement and social division by voting for the Congress party in what he hailed as a historic decision. He said that while this would be his last election, he had no intention of stepping down from politics and would continue to serve the community until his last breath. Siddaramaiah also criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi, accusing him of not supporting the Congress’ efforts to help poor and middle-class communities. Among the welfare promises his administration would aim to implement were reduced costs for petrol, diesel, cooking oil and fertilisers.
