Government Ministries and Agencies Prepare Reports to Fast-Track Implementation
Government ministries, departments, and semi-autonomous agencies in Kenya have been directed to prepare reports on the projects, programs, and policies being implemented in their respective jurisdictions. This move comes as the National Government aims to expedite the implementation of these initiatives.
The reports, according to Kakamega County Commissioner Mr. John Ondego, will serve as a tool for tracking progress and identifying any challenges that may hinder the smooth execution of these projects. By doing so, the government hopes to unlock these bottlenecks and ensure a timely completion of the initiatives.
Under the newly launched National Government Development County Implementation Coordination and Management Committee (NGD-CICMC), the committee will evaluate the status of various projects, programs, and policies. They will also address any obstacles faced by implementers and escalate unresolved issues to the National Government Development Regional Implementation Coordination and Management Committee (NGD-RICMC).
To ensure effective coordination, the committee is chaired by the County Commissioner and includes representation from all ministries, departments, agencies, and semi-autonomous government entities at the county level. The Secretariat is led by the Regional Director and the County Government Delivery Services (GDS).
Mr. Silvance Osele, the Western Regional Head of Secretariat, emphasized that this whole government approach to project implementation will enhance efficiency by reducing bureaucracy and ensuring timely execution. By periodically visiting projects, the committee aims to assess their progress and facilitate their successful completion.
The Government Delivery Services, initially known as the Presidential Delivery Unit (PDU), operates under the Office of the Prime Cabinet Secretary, Mr. Musalia Mudavadi. Its main objective is to support the realization of the Kenya Kwanza administration’s Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA), contributing to the country’s overall development.
The adoption of a systematic and collaborative approach by the government signifies a commitment to effective project management and the efficient use of public resources. Through increased coordination and oversight, the government aims to expedite the implementation of projects and programs across the country, thereby driving socio-economic development and delivering tangible benefits to Kenyan citizens.
In conclusion, the creation of the National Government Development County Implementation Coordination and Management Committee (NGD-CICMC) marks a significant step towards streamlining project implementation in Kenya. By preparing comprehensive reports and addressing challenges promptly, the government strives to ensure the successful completion of initiatives, benefiting the nation as a whole.
