Boston Voters Remove Controversial City Councilors in Preliminary Election
Boston voters have spoken in the preliminary elections, making their voices heard by voting out two controversial city councilors, according to the city’s official results. Councilor Kendra Lara, who represents District 6, has been eliminated from the November general election after being involved in a car crash earlier this year. The incident occurred in June, and it was discovered that Lara was driving without a license when she crashed an unregistered car into a home in Jamaica Plain.
In District 5, Councilor Ricardo Arroyo also did not make it through the preliminary vote, following a series of controversies over the past year. Among the controversies Arroyo faced, he was fined for ethics violations in July. The voters have expressed their dissatisfaction by not choosing Arroyo to move forward in the election process.
As of the latest vote count at around 11 p.m., Benjamin Jacob Weber is leading the District 6 race with 43.14% of the vote. William A King is currently in second place with 35.98%, while Lara stands in third place with 20.59%. In District 5, Enrique Pepen is leading the vote tally with 39.92%, followed by Jose A Ruiz in second place with 30.82%. Arroyo is currently in third place with 18.71%.
The upcoming general election in Boston is scheduled to take place on November 7. This news is still developing, so stay tuned to 7NEWS, both on-air and online, for the latest updates on this matter.
