Teen Pleads Guilty to Slaying Mother’s Ex: Shocking Murder Revealed
A teenage boy from Washington state has pleaded guilty to the murder of a man who had previously been in a relationship with his mother. Gabriel Davies, 17, along with his accomplice Justin Yoon, also 17, confessed to second-degree murder charges in Pierce County, Washington.
The shocking murder came to light approximately a year ago when authorities arrested Davies and Yoon, who were both 16 at the time, in connection with the killing of 51-year-old Dan McCaw. McCaw’s absence from work prompted a welfare check at his Orting home, which led to a gruesome discovery.
Inside the residence, deputies found McCaw’s lifeless body surrounded by a pool of blood. Initially, investigators suspected suicide due to the absence of forced entry. However, a thorough examination revealed that McCaw had suffered both gunshot and stabbing wounds, confirming his death as a homicide.
The investigation took a turn when Davies was reported missing under suspicious circumstances the night before McCaw’s discovery. He was eventually found shirtless and without socks several miles away from his abandoned, damaged vehicle. Yoon’s father eventually contacted investigators, providing crucial information about Davies’ involvement in McCaw’s murder. Surveillance footage from McCaw’s residence captured both Yoon and Davies sneaking into the house through a doggy door, carrying potential weapons.
According to Davies’ father, his son was coerced into stealing something from McCaw’s home under the threat of harm by associates allegedly affiliated with an outlaw motorcycle club. When McCaw entered his home, Yoon pursued him and stabbed him, followed by Davies retrieving the targeted item from the safe.
Pierce County detectives secured search warrants for both Davies’ and Yoon’s residences, leading to their arrest. The search of their homes resulted in the discovery of two stolen guns and a collection of throwing knives, further implicating them in the crime.
Davies and Yoon now face sentencing on November 3 and could potentially be sentenced to up to 18 years in prison. Their guilty plea to the murder charges is part of a plea agreement in which other charges, including first-degree burglary and unlawful gun possession, were dropped.
