CITU Organisational Workshop Set to Review Union Functioning in Andaman and Nicobar Islands

Port Blair, Sept. 11: The Communist Party of India (Marxist)-affiliated Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU) will be conducting a two-day Organisational Workshop to assess the performance of the union and affiliated bodies in the picturesque Andaman and Nicobar Islands. The event is scheduled to take place on September 12th and 13th, 2023, in the vibrant city of Port Blair.

Representing the interests of the working class, approximately 50 leaders from the CITU State Committee, along with select office bearers from various unions spread across the islands, will be attending this significant event. The Organisational Workshop aims to scrutinize the functioning and efficacy of both the CITU and affiliated unions operating in Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

The two-day Workshop assumes great importance as it provides an opportunity for introspection and evaluation on how effectively the CITU and affiliated unions have been supporting the needs and aspirations of the workers in the region. By meticulously reviewing their performance, the Workshop intends to identify areas of improvement and devise strategies to better address the concerns and demands of the working class.

The CITU and affiliated unions have been at the forefront of championing the rights of workers and ensuring their fair treatment. Through relentless efforts, they have helped in creating a favorable environment for workers’ welfare in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. This Workshop will serve as a platform to evaluate the progress made so far and discuss future plans to protect the rights and interests of the workers.

With the picturesque backdrop of Port Blair, the Workshop promises to be an engaging and fruitful event. The participants will have the opportunity to engage in thought-provoking discussions, share valuable insights, and chart a path towards strengthening the union movement and workers’ rights in the region.

As the Workshop concludes, it is anticipated that the recommendations and conclusions drawn will contribute to further enhancing the activities of the CITU and affiliated unions. The event holds the potential to reinforce the commitment towards creating a more equitable and just working environment for the labor force in Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
