British Soldier Fighting in Ukraine Found Dead with Hands Tied
A British soldier who had been fighting alongside Ukrainian forces in the ongoing conflict with Russia has been discovered dead under mysterious circumstances. The soldier, identified as 31-year-old Jordan Chadwick from Burnley, Lancashire, had previously served as a Scots guard in the British Army from 2011 to 2015.
The news of Jordan’s untimely death has devastated his family, particularly his mother Brenda Chadwick, who lovingly referred to him as Joe. Following Ukraine’s facilitation of repatriation, Jordan’s body was returned to the UK on August 7, with a UK inquest scheduled for February.
Speaking to the BBC, Chadwick expressed that her son’s lifelong ambition was to be a soldier and that he was driven by a fervent desire to support freedom and assist others with his skills. She recounted how he left the UK in early October 2022 to pursue his mission.
However, on June 26, Chadwick received the heart-wrenching news of her son’s death from Lancashire Police, while the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) also contacted her to convey the tragic information.
She shared, Despite our immense pride in his unwavering courage and determination, his passing has left us shattered. No words can adequately express the loss of such a young life – a son, brother, grandson, nephew, and uncle, cherished dearly.
An FCDO spokesperson affirmed, We are providing support to the family of a British man who lost his life in Ukraine and maintaining communication with the local authorities.
In a heartbreaking turn of events, this incident follows the loss of another British volunteer, 22-year-old Sam Newey, who was killed in action while fighting in Ukraine. Sam had eagerly joined the conflict shortly after the Russian invasion, serving on multiple frontlines. His brother, Dan Newey, paid tribute to him, describing Sam as an exceptional man and a dedicated soldier.
Dan expressed his profound grief, stating, I cannot find the words to describe the pain I am feeling. Equally, I cannot emphasize enough how proud I am of my younger brother. At just 21, he heeded the call and ventured to Ukraine to oppose Russian Imperialism.
Continuing, he said, Sam, you sacrificed your life for people you had never met, displaying courage, integrity, and honor. You were not only my younger brother but also an outstanding individual, a dedicated soldier, and one of the bravest souls I have had the privilege of knowing. Thank you for being a part of my life for these 22 years. I will forever love you, my dear brother.
