American tennis player Coco Gauff has reached the final of the US Open, overcoming a stadium disruption caused by an environmental activist. Gauff defeated Karolina Muchova 6-4 7-5 in a hard-fought match. In the second set, after a routine hold of serve by Gauff, shouts from the stands disrupted play. Both players left the court as security staff intervened to address the disruption. The delay was caused by a climate activist, highlighting the growing trend of such protests at major sporting events. Once play resumed, neither Gauff nor Muchova appeared rattled by the incident.
Gauff broke in the eighth game of the second set with the help of a double fault by Muchova. Although Muchova saved multiple match points, including a 40-shot rally, Gauff eventually emerged as the victor. On the sixth match point, Muchova hit a backhand past the baseline, leading to Gauff’s celebration.
