Delhi Police Enhances Security Measures Ahead of G20 Summit

The Delhi Police has taken significant steps to bolster security in preparation for the upcoming G20 Summit, scheduled to take place on September 9-10. A top official of the Delhi Police, Special Commissioner of Police (Law and Order) Dependra Pathak, recently conducted an inspection of the capital’s bordering areas to ensure the readiness of security forces. With over 30 heads of state, top officials from the European Union, invited guest countries, and 14 heads of international organizations expected to attend, the authorities are leaving no stone unturned in ensuring a safe and successful event.

During his visit to the Singhu border, Pathak emphasized the importance of promptly reporting any incidents or mishaps to senior officials. He emphasized that any security breach at the Singhu border could escalate into an international issue, highlighting the significance of safeguarding the area. Pathak later commented that the police force is committed to ensuring seamless law and order during the summit. He confirmed that an efficient segment of the Delhi Police has been assigned to oversee security preparations for the G20 Summit, with a strong and strategic deployment of forces throughout the capital to maintain peace and harmony.

To further tighten security, Special Commissioner of Police (Law and Order, Zone-II) Sagar Hooda led a combing exercise in the forest area of Upper Ridge Road. This exercise is a demonstration of the authorities’ proactive approach and commitment to a comprehensive security plan for the mega event.

Officials have revealed that the Delhi Police will closely monitor the summit using their state-of-the-art control room equipped with a network of 5,000 CCTV cameras installed across the city. The control room operates round-the-clock with two teams of 25 security personnel each. District-wise visuals are being continuously monitored to ensure swift responses to any potential security threats.

Additionally, Lt Governor VK Saxena conducted a visit to Rajghat and Pragati Maidan to personally assess the preparations. During the visit, Delhi Police Commissioner Sanjay Arora briefed Saxena on the security arrangements, instilling confidence in the overall readiness of the authorities.

The enhanced security measures taken by the Delhi Police ahead of the G20 Summit aim to assure the international community of the city’s capability to host such prestigious and high-level events. By closely monitoring the situation and ensuring a seamless law and order environment, the Delhi Police is determined to create a safe and conducive atmosphere for all participants.
