IAF’s SU-30MKI Jets Conduct Long-range Mission in Indian Ocean Region: Report

The Indian Air Force carried out a mission with a fleet of Su-30MKI jets for eight hours over the Indian Ocean Region, displaying their long-range capabilities and operational prowess. The mission took place a few weeks after a similar one was conducted with four Rafale jets over the eastern region of the Indian Ocean. The Su-30MKI jets flew over the south-western part of the Indian Ocean, while the Rafale jets covered the eastern region. The IAF has not disclosed the details of the missions, and the number of aircraft involved is still unknown. These operations took place while China has been increasing its presence in the Indian Ocean Region, which is highly regarded as the Indian Navy’s backyard. The Rafale jets, which are India’s first acquisition of fighter planes in over 23 years, are capable of carrying potent weaponry. The IAF tweeted that the recent Su-30MKI mission covered both seaboards, indicating that the operations carried out by the Indian Air Force have been comprehensive and effective.
