Punjab’s NRI Affairs Minister, Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal, has called upon the High Commission of India in Ottawa and the High Commission of Canada to resolve the issue of 700 students facing deportation from Canada. The majority of these students are from Punjab, and they face deportation due to fake acceptance letters from Canadian colleges.

Dhaliwal’s letter states that the students have been cheated by a group of fraudsters that includes a travel agent, officials in the Canadian Embassy in India, and other agencies in Canada. He calls upon the concerned agencies of the Ministry of External Affairs and the Government of Canada to intervene and prevent the deportation of these innocent students.

These students’ future and their families’ future are at stake, Dhaliwal’s letter reads. I shall be highly grateful if the matter is looked into personally, so that these students can be saved from being deported.

The issue of fake acceptance letters is widespread in Punjab, with many unscrupulous agents and agencies operating in the region. These agents often charge exorbitant fees to students for arranging fake letters of acceptance from Canadian colleges without ensuring that the students meet the admission requirements.

The Canadian Government has been tightening its policies on student visas and cracking down on fake admission letters. However, the students who have already been duped are now facing the consequences of the fraud.

Dhaliwal’s plea highlights the urgent need for action to prevent the deportation of these innocent students and to punish those responsible for the fraud. The matter is now in the hands of the concerned agencies, who must act quickly to resolve this issue and ensure that justice is served.
