Child of Sex Offender Becomes Predator: The Disturbing Link Revealed
A shocking revelation has emerged regarding the disturbing link between a child of a sex offender and their potential to become a predator themselves. Bradley Isherwood, 25, who was recently sentenced to ten years in prison for multiple rapes and sexual assaults, was raised by his mother in Scotland after his father, Derek Beardmore, was incarcerated for his own heinous sex crimes.
Top forensic psychologist, Dr Naomi Murphy, speculates that Isherwood’s upbringing by a child molester may have played a significant role in his deviant behavior. While genetic factors could contribute to his predisposition, Dr Murphy believes that Isherwood’s childhood environment likely had a more influential role. She suggests that his father’s actions and the potential abuse Isherwood experienced or witnessed in their shared household may have contributed to his development as a predator.
Isherwood’s crimes involved the rape and sexual assault of two women and a 14-year-old girl in Leith, Edinburgh, and Musselburgh, East Lothian. His relocation to Scotland occurred after his father received an indeterminate sentence in 2006 for his own despicable acts. Beardmore, a former supermarket security guard, engaged in sexual assault against a child and shared explicit images with fellow paedophiles online.
Beardmore’s depravity was exposed when Canadian detectives investigating sex crimes informed UK authorities that the explicit images originated from the Manchester area. Through careful examination, authorities were able to identify Beardmore based on a distinct crude tattoo and moles on his hands depicted in the indecent photographs. A subsequent raid on his Rochdale home uncovered an additional 80 repugnant images. As a result, Beardmore was given an indefinite sentence and a license for life, with a minimum of two years behind bars.
Isherwood’s upbringing played a significant role in his trajectory towards crime. Educated at a residential school for troubled youth, Isherwood shares his father’s fondness for tattoos. His face features inkings of a cut-throat razor, love hearts, and phrases such as haunted, kiss, and in love. The trial against Isherwood involved courageous testimonies from his victims, including a girl who was only 14 when the horrifying ordeal began. Another victim detailed nearly six years of molestation until December 2021, expressing her genuine fear for her life.
Judge Lord Tyre, upon delivering Isherwood’s sentence, denounced his shocking catalogue of violent behavior. Isherwood’s defense advocate, Ian Duguid KC, highlighted the impact of his upbringing on his actions, asserting that his family moved to Scotland following his father’s imprisonment.
Before his conviction, Isherwood maintained an active presence on TikTok, uploading roughly 250 videos showcasing his workout routines while shirtless. Dr Murphy suggests that individuals who seek attention through their physical appearance often do so as a form of compensation and power display, likely stemming from a lack of love and validation during childhood.
The revelation of this disturbing link between the child of a sex offender and potential predatory behavior raises troubling questions. While genetic factors may play a role, it is crucial to examine the impact of the upbringing and environment on an individual’s development to prevent further perpetuation of such crimes. Understanding and addressing these complex dynamics can contribute to protecting potential victims and breaking the cycle of abuse.
