Panic gripped the South Toda area of Indore in central India after four LPG gas cylinders exploded in different houses on Thursday evening. The fire spread to other adjacent homes, but thankfully, no casualty was reported, according to the police and the fire brigade. Unfortunately, four people received burns in the incident, including an 18-year-old girl.
According to a fire brigade officer, over 12 houses were affected due to the fire. MLA Akash Vijayvargiya and senior police officers reached the spot to take stock of the situation in the area after the incident.
The incident took place at a house in the North Toda area near Ranipura around 5.30 pm. A gas cylinder exploded in the house, causing it to catch fire. The flames then spread to over five adjacent houses, causing people to become scared. The local residents informed the fire brigade and tried to control the fire with their own efforts until the firefighters arrived.
The cylinders at three other houses also exploded after the fire spread. The fire brigade officer stated they managed to control the fire using over 55,000 litres of water. The residents of the area, including children, safely evacuated their houses. No casualties have been reported.
ACP (Central Kotwali) VP Sharma informed the Free Press that the exact reason behind the incident could not be immediately established. Some people believe an electrical short circuit in a house caused the first LPG gas cylinder to explode, after which the flames spread to the other adjacent houses. However, the fire brigade managed to control the fire on time, and an investigation is underway to determine the exact cause of the incident.
In conclusion, the scare caused by the LPG gas cylinder explosions in the South Toda area of Indore resulted in no casualties, but four people received burns. The firefighters along with the residents managed to control the fire, and the police are conducting an investigation to determine the cause of the incident.
