Road Rage Incident in Mérida: Woman Attacked After Alleged Traffic Accident
In an unusual turn of events in Mérida, a road rage incident occurred on Itzaes Avenue, leaving a woman assaulted after an alleged traffic accident. The incident took place on Thursday, August 31, around 10 in the morning.
According to the victim, she was driving along Itzaes Avenue when suddenly a red sedan driven by another woman blocked her path. The aggressor then proceeded to accuse the victim of causing a traffic accident. However, the victim vehemently denied any involvement in a crash, stating that her car remained unharmed throughout the incident.
Undeterred, the woman claiming the alleged crash began to chase the victim along Itzaes Avenue until the victim decided to return and park at 79 Street in the Sambulá colony. Fearing the escalating situation, the victim called her husband for advice. He recommended pulling over, contacting the insurance company, and notifying the police.
Following her husband’s advice, the victim did just that. However, as she parked her car, the aggressor parked behind her and quickly approached, assaulting her by striking her in the face. This act of violence resulted in a nosebleed for the victim, while the aggressor swiftly retreated and drove away.
Thankfully, the victim promptly contacted the police, and within minutes, two officers from the Ministry of Public Security (SSP) arrived at the scene. Although the victim described the assailant’s car and provided the license plate number, the officers unfortunately did not take immediate action to locate and apprehend the attacker. They did, however, advise the victim to file a formal complaint with the State Attorney General’s Office due to the seriousness of the incident.
Concerned for her safety, the victim expressed her intentions to follow the officers’ recommendation and pursue legal action against her assailant. She fears that the attacker, who now possesses her vehicle’s license plates, may pose an even greater threat in the future.
This road rage incident in Mérida serves as a reminder of the unforeseen dangers that can arise from volatile confrontations on the roads. It highlights the urgent need for prompt action and awareness to address such incidents and enhance road safety for all motorists.
