Bentley Unveils Vibrant Rainbow-Striped Continental GTC at Manchester Pride
Luxury automaker Bentley made a bold statement at the Manchester Pride event by showcasing a one-of-a-kind rainbow-striped Bentley Continental GTC. The vibrant convertible, part of Bentley’s Heritage Collection, serves as a symbol of the company’s unwavering support for the LGBTQ+ community. Designed by Bentley’s CGI artist Rich Morris, the eye-catching vehicle stood out at the parade, promoting LGBTQ+ rights and solidarity. Notably, the car remains mechanically unaltered from the standard model, emphasizing its purpose as a visual expression rather than a modification.
The design of the Bentley Continental GTC is the brainchild of Rich Morris, who utilized the classic Pride colors and the car’s sleek lines to create a striking intersecting diamond pattern. Inspired by Bentley’s interior quilt patterns, the design aims to convey the car’s purpose without relying on viewers’ familiarity with the LGBTQ+ community. The roadster boasts impressive features such as a long and muscular bonnet, circular LED headlights, crystalline-effect DRLs, frameless windows, designer wheels, premium leather upholstery, and deep-padded floor mats.
Under the hood, the one-off Bentley Continental GTC retains the powertrain from the standard model. It is equipped with a powerful 6.0-liter, twin-turbocharged W12 petrol engine that unleashes 626hp of maximum power and a peak torque of 900Nm. The engine is paired with an 8-speed ZF DCT gearbox, contributing to the car’s outstanding performance.
Aside from the flagship car, Bentley demonstrated its commitment to fostering an inclusive workplace culture by having 75 Bentley associates attend the Manchester Pride event. This highlights the automaker’s dedication to diversity and its diverse workforce at the iconic automaker’s Crewe headquarters, located near Manchester. Emphasizing Bentley’s year-round commitment, Karen Lange, a board member for HR at Bentley, saw the colorful Continental GTC as a reflection of the company’s values.
In addition to its support for LGBTQ+ rights, Bentley has also taken significant steps towards environmental sustainability. The automaker has made its factory carbon-neutral and established bee colonies on its company grounds. Furthermore, Bentley plans to produce electric vehicles that aim to double the power of some of its current W12 internal combustion engine-powered models. By doing so, Bentley aims to demonstrate its dedication to innovation and sustainability within the automotive industry.
