Indian airline SpiceJet has revealed plans to add ten Boeing 737s to its fleet to meet the growing demand for air travel in the country. The carrier has signed a lease agreement for five 737 Max planes as well as five other 737s, which will join the fleet in September 2023. SpiceJet currently operates a mix of aircraft, including 737 Max aircraft, Q400s, and Boeing 700s, and flies around 250 daily flights to domestic and international destinations. The airline is also reviving its grounded aircraft and expects them to return to service soon. Chairman and Managing Director Ajay Singh said the new additions to the fleet would help SpiceJet launch new routes and strengthen existing ones.
