Armed Robbery in Seattle: Teenager Arrested with Stolen Gun and Modified Car
Seattle police have apprehended a 16-year-old suspect following an armed robbery at a Lake City business on Tuesday. According to the Seattle Police Department, the incident occurred around 4:30 p.m. local time in the 3000 block of 127th Street.
The robbery unfolded when three teenage boys entered the store with intentions to pilfer tools. However, their plans took a dangerous turn when one of the teens brandished a gun in menacing fashion after being confronted by a staff member. Seizing the opportunity, the trio quickly fled the scene in a stolen vehicle.
Shortly thereafter, law enforcement discovered that the same car had been involved in a crash, prompting the suspects to flee on foot. In response, officers and deputies scrambled to track them down.
Fortunately, the police successfully detained the 16-year-old responsible for wielding the firearm and he is now in custody. Authorities managed to recover the gun, but upon examination, they determined it had been unlawfully modified.
The apprehended teenager faces multiple charges, including robbery, possession of a stolen motor vehicle, unlawful possession of a firearm, and unlawful firearm use. Meanwhile, detectives from the Gun Violence Reduction Unit, along with members of the Community Violence Task Force, continue their search for the remaining two boys involved.
In a recent development, the King County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office has filed charges against the 16-year-old suspect. These charges include robbery, unlawful possession of a machine gun, unlawful possession of a firearm, and possession of a stolen car.
An arraignment for the accused is scheduled for Monday at 1:30 p.m. at the Clark Child and Family Justice Center in Seattle. Presently, the teenager remains in custody at the Youth Services Center.
The authorities are taking this case seriously, mobilizing various units to ensure the safe and swift resolution of the armed robbery. Efforts are ongoing to locate the outstanding suspects and bring them to justice.
