The Cleveland Browns made some significant roster changes ahead of the upcoming NFL season. The team announced that they have cut wide receiver Anthony Schwartz, while also confirming that wide receiver Jakeem Grant’s season is over due to a serious injury.

Schwartz, a former third-round draft pick, failed to impress during his time with the Browns. Dealing with injuries and drops, Schwartz’s performance on the field didn’t live up to expectations. The team decided to part ways with him, waiving him with an injury designation. Schwartz’s release makes him just the third pick by Browns General Manager Andrew Berry to be let go.

On the other hand, Grant’s season came to an unfortunate end after he ruptured his patella tendon during the team’s preseason game against the Kansas City Chiefs. Placed on injured reserve, Grant will not be able to participate for the rest of the year. It’s a tough blow for the Browns and Grant, who was looking forward to making an impact in his first season with the team.

The Browns also made several other roster moves, releasing players including cornerbacks Caleb Biggers and Gavin Heslop, linebacker Cam Bright, tight ends Miller Forristall and Thomas Greaney, offensive tackle Derrick Kelly II, safety Nate Meadors, and wide receiver Jalen Wayne. Additionally, guard Colby Gossett and running back Jordan Wilkins had their contracts terminated.

Wilkins, in particular, had a difficult outing in the team’s last preseason game. He was involved in two fumbles on faulty exchanges with quarterback Deshaun Watson, which likely contributed to his release. The Browns have acquired running back Pierre Strong Jr. in a trade with the Kansas City Chiefs, adding depth to their roster.

Teams across the NFL have until Tuesday to finalize their 53-man rosters, and the Browns are working to make the necessary adjustments. They will return to the practice field on Tuesday as they prepare for their season opener against the Cincinnati Bengals on September 10 at the Cleveland Browns Stadium.

The Browns’ roster cuts and injury news have sparked discussions among fans and analysts about the team’s depth and potential impact on their upcoming season. As the dust settles, the Browns will need to regroup and focus on their remaining roster in order to start the season on a positive note.

With these changes, the Browns aim to build a competitive team that can make a strong push in the highly competitive AFC North division. As fans eagerly await the start of the regular season, all eyes will be on the Browns’ new-look roster and how they come together under head coach Kevin Stefanski’s guidance.
