Protesters Rally for Reinvestigation of Unsolved 2012 Sexual Assault and Murder Case
Protesters in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts have taken to the streets, demanding a reinvestigation into the unresolved 2012 sexual assault and murder case of Sowjanya. Local BJP MLAs and MLCs joined the demonstration, expressing their solidarity with the cause.
The recent acquittal of the sole suspect in the case by a CBI court has left many questions unanswered and the true culprits free. In light of this, the BJP is determined to seek justice for the victim’s family. State BJP President Nalin Kumar Kateel addressed the gathering, stating that the party’s stance is crystal clear – they want the real perpetrators to face the consequences and receive the death penalty if found guilty.
During the protest, Kateel emphasized the need for a reinvestigation into the case by the state government. He announced that all BJP MLAs and MLCs from Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts would meet Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Governor Thawar Chand Gehlot to urge them to take immediate action. The objective is to ensure that justice is served and the truth behind this heinous crime is uncovered.
Kateel added that anyone with information regarding the offenders in the Sowjanya case would receive protection from the central government if they come forward with evidence to aid the investigation. The BJP is committed to providing a safe and secure environment for individuals who are willing to cooperate.
The call for reinvestigation is based on the belief that the acquittal of the suspect does not mean justice has been done. The local community, along with the BJP, asserts that it is essential to identify and apprehend the true culprits to ensure a fair resolution for the victim’s family.
As the protesters united their voices, they expressed their determination to bring attention to the case and hold those responsible accountable. The demand for justice resonates strongly within the community and highlights the need for a thorough reinvestigation.
The outcome of the protest remains to be seen, but the collective efforts of the community and political representatives have raised awareness about the case. With their voices amplified, the hope for justice continues to grow.
