Leon Schuster, the beloved South African comedian and actor, has once again captured the hearts of fans with his new song Bokmasjien. Despite being in the hospital recovering from a back operation, Schuster has shown unwavering support for the national rugby team, the Springboks.
Known for his humor and wit, Schuster has been relatively low-profile in recent years. However, his friends reveal that he has been busy working on new material, including this catchy song dedicated to the Springboks ahead of the Rugby World Cup next month. Titled Bokmasjien, the song was officially released on August 25.
According to a social media post by his friend Rene Stokes, Schuster suffered the back injury while filming the upcoming movie Mr Bones 3. It seems that years of enduring the public’s scrutiny have taken a toll on the 72-year-old actor.
Despite his current condition, Schuster took the opportunity to send a heartfelt message of support to the Springboks in a video posted on Facebook. Little did he know that his encouragement would spur the team on to an impressive victory over their longstanding rivals, the All Blacks, with a score of 37-5.
The release of Bokmasjien comes at an ideal time, just three weeks before the Springboks embark on their Rugby World Cup journey in France. The tournament, scheduled from September 8 to October 28, holds great promise for South Africa. Their first match will be against Scotland on September 10.
Leon Schuster’s new song not only showcases his artistic talent but also serves as a rallying cry for the Springboks as they prepare to take on the world’s best rugby teams. As fans eagerly anticipate the upcoming tournament, they can find solace in Schuster’s infectious spirit and unwavering support for the national team.
