Security forces in Manipur, India, conducted joint combing operations for the second day in a row on Thursday, with magistrates present during searches in non-AFSPA areas to ensure a people-friendly approach. Today, 35 weapons, ammunition and warlike stores were recovered. Domination of NH 37 was also carried out in an effort to guarantee the incident-free movement of essential goods to and from Manipur. The Indian army carried out the operations in sensitive areas of both the hills and the valley sectors following recent violence in the state, with automatic weapons and warlike stores recovered during the process. Home minister Amit Shah had recently appealed to the local population to hand in all weapons and ammunition for the purpose of maintaining peace and order.
