Air India‘s replacement flight carrying passengers and crew from Russia‘s Far East has taken off for San Francisco, the airline confirmed on Thursday. The flight was sent to Magadan to pick up 216 passengers and 16 crew from a Delhi-to-San Francisco flight that was diverted after the plane’s engine malfunctioned. The stranded travellers were housed in makeshift accommodation due to limited infrastructure at the remote Magadan airport. Air India mobilised extra support for passenger clearance at San Francisco airport upon arrival.
