The Indian rupee weakened by five paise to finish at 82.57 against the US dollar on Thursday, following Reserve Bank of India’s decision to keep the benchmark interest rates unchanged. The domestic unit commenced trading at 82.59 against the greenback and concluded the day at 82.57 (provisional), down from its previous session’s close. During the day, the rupee touched a high of 82.53 and a low of 82.61 against the greenback. The Indian central bank held its GDP growth projections for the current financial year steady at 6.5%, simultaneously trimming retail inflation expectations to 5.1% from the prior 5.2% forecast.
