[Polo G and Trench Baby, Popular Rapper Brothers, Arrested in Mansion Raid]
Popular rap artists Polo G and Trench Baby, who are also brothers, were arrested on Wednesday following a raid on Polo G’s Chatsworth mansion, according to the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD).
On the evening of August 15, a robbery took place at a residence in Granada Hills, where the suspect, identified as 18-year-old Taurean Bartlett, allegedly brandished a handgun and demanded money from the victim. The LAPD launched an investigation into the incident, leading them to obtain a search warrant for Bartlett’s Granada Hills home. However, during the investigation, they discovered that Taurean was staying at his older brother Polo G’s mansion in Chatsworth, prompting them to obtain a separate search warrant for that property.
During the raid on Polo G’s $4.9-million mansion, law enforcement officers not only apprehended Taurean Bartlett, who was wanted in connection with the robbery, but also discovered an illegal short-barrel rifle. Consequently, Polo G, whose legal name is Taurus Bartlett, was arrested for possessing the illegal firearm.
Photographs and footage captured by TMZ showed the brothers being escorted away from the mansion in handcuffs. Taurean Bartlett was released on Wednesday night after posting $100,000 bail, while Taurus Bartlett was released on his own recognizance, as indicated by Los Angeles County jail records. The younger Bartlett is scheduled to appear in court on September 13, while the older Bartlett has a court date set for September 12.
Polo G, known for his presence in Chicago’s drill rap scene, has emerged as a prominent figure in the music industry in recent years. With two highly successful albums, his 2019 debut Die a Legend and his subsequent release Goat in 2020, he quickly gained a large following. His albums have achieved double-platinum status, with multiple songs charting on Billboard’s Hot 100.
His most recent album, Hall of Fame, released in 2021, debuted at the top of the Billboard 200, further solidifying Polo G’s status as a rap superstar. The album’s lead single, Rapstar, spent two weeks at the number one spot on the charts, surpassing renowned artists such as Bruno Mars, Justin Bieber, the Weeknd, and Ariana Grande. All three of his albums have sold over two million copies each, and his upcoming fourth album, H.O.O.D P.O.E.T, was recently announced.
Meanwhile, Taurean Bartlett, who performs under the name Trench Baby, is also a rapper and has collaborated with his older brother on several tracks. Taurean began his career in rap as a teenager and has looked up to Polo G as a mentor along his own artistic journey.
Following news of the arrests, Polo G’s attorney, Bradford Cohen, criticized the police for denying access to his client, which he deemed illegal and unethical. No further comments from Cohen or legal representation for Taurean Bartlett have been provided at this time.
As investigations into the robbery and the discovery of the illegal firearm continue, both Polo G and Trench Baby face legal proceedings in the coming weeks. The outcome of these cases will determine the future of the renowned rapper brothers.
