NAHCON, the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria, has revealed that around 95,000 Nigerian pilgrims are expected to participate in this year’s Hajj rituals in Saudi Arabia. Of these pilgrims, approximately 32,781 have already been safely transported to the holy land, with others waiting at various Hajj camps across Nigeria to board flights to the Kingdom. NAHCON is now seeking collaboration with a Saudi-based company and other relevant agencies to ensure a successful 2023 pilgrimage for African non-Arab countries’ pilgrims in Makkah. In a meeting with the company, the deputy Makkah coordinator of NAHCON, Alhaji Alidu Shutti, stressed the need for both parties to work together to make the 2023 pilgrimage an outstanding one for Nigerian pilgrims. He praised the cooperation and resources provided by the Mutawwifs, adding that the commission is ready to key into any strategy that will benefit Nigerian pilgrims. Meanwhile, the Makkah liaison officer of NAHCON, Alhaji Abubakar Lamin, charged the company to ensure that the Nigerian contingent receives special care at Masha’er for tents and medical services delivery. The Chief Operations of NAHCON’S medical team, Dr. Usman Galadima, appealed to the company to improve their services and deploy more ambulances for Masha’er compared to last year. In response, the vice president of the Mutawifs company, Ar-Rayyan Muglan, assured the company’s readiness to cooperate with NAHCON and positively enhance the 2023 Hajj operation.
