Residents of Jammu and Kashmir who are considered unprivileged will be given land and a home under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) scheme, according to an announcement by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha. The government aims to issue notifications surrounding this development soon. Previously, there was no provision for the government to provide land to landless individuals, but regressive land laws have since been removed. The governor also highlighted the allotment of over 19,000 houses under the PMAY-G scheme to Jammu District, which is part of the larger allocation of 1,99,550 homes in Jammu and Kashmir. The initiative, combined with comprehensive development plans for underdeveloped rural areas, will bring public facilities to residents and contribute to the overall progress of the region.
