CNN Max, the new 24/7 news streaming service from Warner Bros. Discovery, is set to launch on September 27, bringing live programming and exclusive content to its subscribers. This move marks a significant expansion for Max, which already offers a wide range of entertainment options.
The launch of CNN Max will see the inclusion of new programming specifically tailored for the streaming audience. Anchors like Jim Acosta, Rahel Solomon, Amara Walker, Fredricka Whitfield, and Jim Sciutto will present CNN Newsroom and provide viewers with up-to-the-minute news coverage. Sciutto, in particular, will lead the breaking news coverage in the afternoons.
Subscribers to Max will also have access to popular CNN shows such as Amanpour, Anderson Cooper 360, The Lead With Jake Tapper, and The Situation Room With Wolf Blitzer, along with additional live programming from CNN U.S. and CNN International.
JB Perrette, CEO and President, Global Streaming and Games, expressed his excitement about the launch, stating that CNN Max aims to be The One to Watch for all members of a household. He highlighted that the addition of 24/7 news from CNN, a leading global news organization, will provide Max subscribers with a seamless experience to catch up on current events and breaking news.
The new CNN Max service will be offered at no extra charge to Max subscribers, who can choose from different packages ranging from Max With Ads ($9.99/month) to Max Ad-Free ($15.99/month) and Max Ultimate Ad-Free ($19.99/month).
In addition to the launch of CNN Max, Max will rename its currently branded CNN Originals hub as CNN Max. This hub already features a vast library of current and legacy programming, including popular shows like Who’s Talking to Chris Wallace, The Whole Story With Anderson Cooper, Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown, and Stanley Tucci: Searching for Italy.
The introduction of CNN Max comes 16 months after the closure of CNN+, a standalone streaming service that lasted just four weeks. This new endeavor aims to reach a younger and broader audience, leveraging the popularity of streaming services and meeting the evolving demands of viewers.
