Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has praised the development of the Garkhal Border Gram Panchayat in Akhnoor and said that it will soon become a driving force for the nation’s development. Speaking at a public function in the Panchayat, the LG lauded the efforts of the District administration in accelerating the socio-economic development of Garkhal Panchayat. He announced that the government would provide land to poor landless people and a house under PMAY, while additional houses would be allotted under the Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana-Gramin. He encouraged the PRI members and the people to start a mass movement to make the Garkhal Panchayat Swachh and Drug-free. The LG also laid the foundation stone for retrofitting of Water Supply Scheme Garkhal and other works under Jal Jeevan Mission.
