Pop Star Pink Discloses Boozy Email Exchange with Eminem for New Collaboration

Pop star Pink recently revealed an interesting anecdote about how she landed a collaboration with rapper Eminem for her latest album, Beautiful Trauma. In an interview, the singer shared that their creative partnership began with a rather relatable twist – a drunken email.

We’ve all probably experienced the regret that comes after sending a tipsy message, but it’s not often that our intoxicated correspondence involves asking a fellow music icon to collaborate on a song. That’s what makes Pink’s story so unique.

During her conversation with Entertainment Weekly, Pink shared the details: It was a sneak attack. My collaborator Max [Martin] and I were working on ‘Revenge’ and I came up with this rap. We had been indulging in a fair amount of wine, and when I got home, I thought more wine would be a great idea.

So, I decided to email [Eminem]. They call it ‘liquid courage’ for a reason. I said, ‘You know I love you. I noticed that you work with many of the same artists like Rihanna. She’s definitely hotter than me, but I’m funnier. I’m aiming for a rap Grammy, and I’d love for you to join me on that journey.’ It was a long email, and he responded immediately with just ‘Okay’.

Well, that’s a cool response, Em. No exclamation mark or smiley face to soften the blow, just a simple ‘Okay’.

Naturally, Pink was taken aback by his stone-cold reply and decided to follow up: I emailed him again saying, ‘This is the best thing I’ve ever heard! I want to tackle you and rub your face in the dirt!’ His response was another plain ‘Okay’.

Despite the less-than-enthusiastic reactions, it seems the collaboration turned out just fine as Eminem did feature on the track. His verse in the song is solid, which somewhat compensates for his monosyllabic replies. Perhaps he was just trying to conserve words.

This incident sheds light on an interesting aspect of the music industry – the unexpected ways in which collaborations come to fruition. It could be a simple email exchange between artists, even during the after-effects of a night of revelry.

With Pink and Eminem’s collaboration on ‘Revenge’, it’s clear that sometimes it doesn’t take much more than a tipsy idea and the courage to reach out. It goes to show that in the world of music, creativity can transcend the usual boundaries and expectations, taking form in the most unexpected of circumstances.

So, raise a glass to Pink and Eminem for their successful collaboration and the unforgettable story behind it. Cheers!
