According to a recent report, attrition rates among women employees at India’s largest tech company, TCS, have surpassed those of men. TCS chief human resources officer Milind Lakkad suggested that the end of work-from-home may be a contributing factor. Historically, attrition rates have been lower or on par with men, making this a significant development. Lakkad acknowledged it as a setback to ongoing efforts to promote gender diversity within the company and stated that TCS is focusing on reversing the trend. The company has implemented various policies to support women employees, such as flexible work arrangements and leadership development programmes like ‘iExcel’. Women constituted 38.1% of TCS’s net hires in the last financial year, and nearly 14,000 job applicants applied through their ‘Rebegin’ initiative catering to experienced women professionals re-entering the workforce after a break. TCS has nearly 30,000 employees classified as senior management, with over 13% being women. The company has maintained that it does not discriminate between genders regarding remuneration.
