Managing Director of Dipped Products PLC (DPL), Pushpika Janadheera, has been appointed as the new Chairman of the Sri Lanka Association of Manufacturers and Exporters of Rubber Products (SLAMERP), signaling a positive development for Sri Lanka’s rubber industry. Janadheera’s extensive experience in the rubber sector positions him well to promote key industry priorities at this crucial time.
Having worked in the rubber industry for over 20 years, Janadheera joined Dipped Products in 2017 as the Director of Operations. Recognized for his leadership and strategic insights, he was later appointed as Deputy Managing Director in 2020. In January 2023, he assumed the role of Managing Director and became a member of the Hayleys Group Management Committee.
Before joining DPL, Janadheera served as the Director/General Manager at Richard Pieris Tyre Co. Ltd and held the position of Director of Manufacturing at Associated Motorways. His wealth of experience makes him well-equipped to lead SLAMERP and advocate for the value-added rubber industry in Sri Lanka.
As the new SLAMERP Chairman, Janadheera aims to address various challenges faced by the industry. With traditional markets experiencing a decline in orders, he believes that diversifying both markets and products is crucial for overcoming these obstacles. Janadheera also emphasizes the importance of support from all stakeholders to achieve market expansions and policy reforms that benefit the rubber sector. Moreover, he prioritizes the upliftment of raw rubber production and the increase of rubber product exports to boost foreign earnings for Sri Lanka.
Expressing his gratitude for the trust placed in him, Janadheera stated, I am honored to take on leadership and ensure that our industry’s voice continues to be heard and heeded. His vision aligns with SLAMERP’s mission to serve as the voice of rubber product manufacturers and exporters in Sri Lanka.
The newly elected SLAMERP committee for 2023/2024 includes Kavinda Rajapaksa as Vice Chairman, Virann De Zoysa as Secretary, Thusitha Perera as Treasurer, and Sisira Ranatunga as Director General.
With Janadheera’s appointment as Chairman, the Sri Lankan rubber industry can look forward to a strong advocate who will work towards overcoming challenges, expanding market access, and maximizing foreign earnings.
