Brandin Cooks Retires Pilot License to Focus on Dallas Cowboys’ Super Bowl Campaign

FRISCO, Texas – Brandin Cooks, the wide receiver for the Dallas Cowboys, has decided to temporarily retire his pilot’s license in order to focus completely on the team’s quest for a Super Bowl victory. Cooks, who had been flying for nearly two years, made the announcement on his Instagram feed after taking his teammates Micah Parsons and Stephon Gilmore on a plane ride overlooking Lumen Field in Seattle before the Cowboys’ preseason game against the Seahawks.

In the video, Cooks expressed his gratitude to his teammates for trusting him to take them up in the air. However, he acknowledged that his flying adventures would have to take a back seat for now as he shifts his attention to football. Cooks stated, I will never do something like that obviously in the regular season. Flip the switch. No more flying this year.

Living in the Northwest during the offseason, Cooks had been drawn to the captivating aerial views the region offers. He explained, It’s just so beautiful from those views up there. I’ve always just kind of aspired to be able to do something that’s out of the ordinary. Cooks had always flown with a veteran co-pilot, ensuring safety in the skies.

Dallas Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy responded to Cooks’ Instagram post with amusement, jokingly mentioning that he had reminded the wide receiver to bring a parachute. McCarthy, having encountered players with pilot’s licenses in the past, didn’t seem entirely surprised by Cooks’ passion for flying. He remarked, Brandin is someone you definitely would trust.

While Cooks understands the coach’s concerns about the team’s investment, he acknowledged McCarthy’s perspective. If I was him I’d feel the same way, Cooks sympathized. He’s got a lot of guys in that plane that we invested in, so I don’t blame him for feeling the way he did.

As the Cowboys gear up for the upcoming NFL season, Cooks’ decision to retire his pilot’s license reveals his unwavering commitment to the team’s Super Bowl aspirations. With McCarthy’s trust and support, Cooks is determined to contribute both on and off the field to propel the Cowboys toward success.
