Private Bus Overturns in Palakkad, Killing Two and Injuring Several
In a tragic incident, a private bus traveling from Chennai to Kozhikode met with an accident at the Thiruvazhiyode junction in Palakkad district, resulting in the loss of two lives and leaving several others injured. The incident took place earlier today when the luxury bus operated by Kallada Travels veered off the road and overturned. The accident occurred around 7.45 a.m., with 38 passengers onboard at the time.
Regrettably, two individuals lost their lives in the mishap. The deceased have been identified as Ishaan, a 19-year-old from Kuttiyadi, and Sainaba Beevi, a 39-year-old resident of Ponnani. Both victims were thrown off the bus and became trapped underneath it, succumbing to their injuries while undergoing treatment at the district hospital.
The injured passengers, comprising 13 individuals with minor wounds, have been admitted to the district hospital in Palakkad for medical care. Meanwhile, six others named Sufaid, Diya M Nair, Nishanth, Sivani, Rimshana, and Mohammed Marhan have been transported to Al Shifa hospital in Perinthalmanna. Additionally, Aira and Binu, who sustained minor injuries, received immediate first aid at the Katampazhipuram primary health center before being discharged. Two individuals with grievous injuries have been shifted to a private hospital in Coimbatore for specialized care.
Eyewitnesses residing in the vicinity reported that the bus driver appeared to have lost control over the vehicle, attempting to regain control before the accident occurred. However, the police are still investigating the exact cause of the accident and have yet to determine the underlying reasons.
The incident unfolded at an unfortunate sharp curve, causing the bus to overturn and come to rest on the right side of the road. Local authorities have accordingly attended to the situation, ensuring the bodies of the deceased are respectfully transferred to the District Hospital mortuary in Palakkad.
