Stallion Laguna FC and the National Capital Region Football Association (NCRFA) are set to face off in the championship match of the Philippine Football Federation (PFF) U19 Division 1 National Finals on Thursday, August 24, 2023. The highly anticipated match will take place at the Dynamic Herb-Borromeo Sports Complex in Talisay City, Cebu.
In the semi-finals, Stallion Laguna FC secured a hard-fought victory against the host team, the Central Visayas Football Association (CVFA), with a score of 3-2 on August 22. On the other hand, NCRFA had a convincing win over the Panay Football Association (PFA) with a score of 7-1 in their scheduled match.
The battle for third place will take place between CVFA and PFA at 8:30 a.m., followed by the championship match at 2 p.m. These matches promise to showcase the talent and skills of the young football players who have worked hard to reach this stage of the competition.
The previous encounter between NCRFA and Stallion Laguna FC saw NCRFA emerge as the champions of Group A’s competition held at the PFF National Training Center in Cavite last July. They secured a 2-1 victory against their formidable opponents.
Meanwhile, CVFA topped Group B competition last June by defeating all five football associations, including South Cotabato-Sarangani-General Santos, Camiguin-MisOr, Zamboanga-Dipolog, Davao South, and eventual second-placer PFA.
The upcoming championship match is expected to feature outstanding performances from key players such as Daniel Christensen and Rodrigo Mariñas III of NCRFA, who displayed their dominant skills against PFA. Meanwhile, Stallion Laguna FC will rely on the talents of Andrei Gonzales and Joaquin Collo.
In addition to the thrilling football action, fans will have the opportunity to meet and greet two special guests at the event. Philippine Women’s National Football Team captain Hali Long and goalkeeper Inna Palacios will be present, adding to the excitement of the occasion. PFF president Mariano Nonong Araneta Jr. will also be in attendance.
