Punjab Government Implements 9 to 5 Timing for Government Offices

Punjab, India – In a move to streamline operations and enhance efficiency, the Punjab Government has implemented new office timings from 9 am to 5 pm for all government offices across the state. The new timings came into effect on July 17, and officials and personnel promptly arrived at their respective offices at 9 am.

Deputy Commissioner Ludhiana, Surbhi Malik, shared that the government office timings have been changed as per the state government’s orders. Previously, the timings were set from 7:30 am to 2 pm. However, with the new implementation, the old timings have been restored.

Malik noted that the government staff in Punjab is always prepared to assist the people of the state, even beyond their regular working hours. During times of need, they have remained in their offices to aid the general public, providing assistance day and night, even in the face of natural disasters like floods.

This decision follows an earlier announcement by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, stating that the office timings would revert to 9 am to 5 pm from July 17 onwards, as per the directives of the Chief Secretary Anurag Verma. The Punjab Information and Public Relations Department also issued official orders regarding this change.

Previously, during the summer season, the office timings were adjusted to 7:30 am to 2 pm to save electricity power and provide relief from the scorching heat to visitors of government offices. However, keeping in mind the convenience of the public, the government has decided to revert to the regular timing of 9 am to 5 pm.

The decision to change the timings is expected to benefit the Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) by reducing electricity consumption during peak hours. It will also allow government officials to spend more time with their families in the afternoon. However, it’s important to note that this change will not be implemented in government and private schools across the state.

With the implementation of the 9 to 5 timing for government offices in Punjab, the state aims to improve efficiency, provide better service to the public, and optimize electricity consumption. The move signifies the government’s continuous efforts to adapt to the needs and preferences of its citizens while striving for administrative excellence.

As the new office timings settle in, it remains to be seen how they will positively impact the overall functioning and productivity of government offices in Punjab.
