An 80-year-old banyan tree in Khandwa, Madhya Pradesh, has been successfully transplanted to Nagchoon Park by the Khandwa Municipal Corporation and the Balaji Group. This landmark tree, which had adorned the area for decades, was relocated from its previous location near Rameshwar police outpost.
The Balaji Group has previously moved 12 100-year-old trees from Anjani Balaji Nagar Colony. The complex process of relocating the banyan tree required experienced technicians and heavy machinery. After being treated with chemicals for six months in preparation for the transplant, the tree was relocated on World Environment Day to remind residents of environmental issues.
According to Ritesh Goyal of Balaji Group, it is not a favor to nature to avoid cutting down trees, but is instead a means of safeguarding human lives. Mayor Amrita Yadav also commented on the importance of trees, stating that if one forgets the contributions of trees, they will suffer in the future.
Social worker Sunil Jain was present during the transplanting process and emphasized the importance of saving trees to ensure their longevity, in addition to appealing to the conscience of the collective society.
The transplantation of the 80-year-old banyan tree is a unique feat and serves as a reminder of the significant role trees play in our lives.
