Assam police recover 700 grams of heroin in Karimganj district; one held
Assam Police have successfully recovered and seized 700 grams of heroin from a vehicle in Karimganj district. The driver of the vehicle has been apprehended in connection with the case.
The Superintendent of Police of Karimganj District, Partha Pratim Das, provided details of the operation. He stated, Police intercepted a vehicle in the Chargola area and discovered several secret chambers inside. Upon further investigation, we recovered 55 soap cases containing heroin, with a total weight of approximately 700 grams.
The driver who was arrested has been identified as Christopher Zochhuana, a resident of Champhai, Mizoram. In response to a specific tip-off, Karimganj police launched an anti-narcotics operation in the Chargola area within the jurisdiction of the Karimganj police station.
Following the discovery of the drugs, the police have registered a case under the relevant sections. Further investigation into the matter is currently underway.
