Over 700 Airbus Atlantic Staff Sick After Christmas Dinner, Cause of Mass Food Poisoning Still Unclear

London, December 24: Over 700 Airbus Atlantic staff in France reportedly fell ill following the company’s Christmas dinner, and the health authorities are still to ascertain the reason for the mass food poisoning, reports said on Sunday. The affected, at the dinner on December 14, included staff from the aviation manufacturer major’s site in western France, and symptoms included vomiting and diarrhea, the BBC reported the Agence Regionale de Sante (ARS) as saying.

The ARS did not provide details about exactly what food might have made people ill at the dinner, but it did say on Friday that diners showed clinical signs of vomiting or diarrhea.

The festive feast was held at a restaurant in Montoir-de-Bretagne on December 14, and employees got sick around 24 to 48 hours after the dinner. One affected employee told a French newspaper that the illness was very painful.

I had colic and headaches like I’d never had before. It was worse than giving birth, the employee said. The dinner included lobster, scallops, gone gars, and tournedos, which included desserts of hazelnut chocolate mousse and ice-cream logs, as per media reports.

Airbus told the BBC, however, that only around 100 were taken ill. In a statement, it said it was cooperating with the ARS to identify the cause of the illness and ensure this cannot happen again in the future.

Food poisoning incidents can have severe consequences on individuals and companies alike. Understanding the cause of the outbreak is crucial to prevent such incidents in the future and ensure the well-being of employees. The health authorities are diligently working to determine the source of this mass food poisoning.

The dinner at Montoir-de-Bretagne, intended to bring holiday cheer, turned into a nightmare for the affected staff members. The exact food item responsible for the illness remains uncertain, but the symptoms exhibited by the diners point towards a case of food poisoning.

One employee shared their harrowing experience, describing the pain they endured. I had colic and headaches like I’d never had before. It was worse than giving birth, the employee revealed. The severity of the symptoms highlights the magnitude of the food poisoning incident.

Reports suggest that the dinner menu consisted of lobster, scallops, gone gars, and tournedos, accompanied by delicious desserts of hazelnut chocolate mousse and ice-cream logs. These culinary delights, intended to spread joy and celebration, instead resulted in widespread illness.

While the Agence Regionale de Sante (ARS) did not disclose the specific food item that caused the outbreak, they confirmed that diners experienced clinical signs of vomiting and diarrhea. These symptoms, common in cases of food poisoning, underline the urgency to identify and rectify the cause.

Airbus, a major aviation manufacturer, has addressed the situation promptly. They reported that approximately 100 employees were affected, countering previous claims of a larger number. Airbus assures cooperation with the ARS in their investigation.

In a statement, Airbus expressed their commitment to resolving the incident and preventing its recurrence. We are working closely with the health authorities to identify the cause of the illness and ensure this cannot happen again in the future, the company stated.

Food poisoning incidents pose serious risks to individuals and companies, demanding swift action and thorough investigations. The health authorities involved are focused on determining the exact cause of the mass food poisoning, safeguarding the well-being of Airbus Atlantic staff and preventing similar incidents from happening again.
