7 Charged in Operation Targeting Mongols Outlaw Motorcycle Gang in Cairns, Australia

Seven individuals have been charged as part of a police operation that targeted the Mongols Outlaw Motorcycle Gang (OMCG) in Cairns, Australia. The operation, known as Victor Jenga, was initiated in August 2023 to disrupt the emerging Cairns City chapter of the Mongols OMCG and gather intelligence.

On October 26, officers from various law enforcement agencies conducted multiple raids at several locations, including Smithfield, Kewarra Beach, Mooroobool, Redlynch, Holloways Beach, and Edmonton. As a result, a total of seven people were charged with various offenses, including assault, drug possession, and weapons offenses.

The charges range from possession of dangerous drugs and weapons to assault occasioning actual bodily harm. The individuals involved are set to appear in Cairns Magistrates Court and Caboolture Magistrates Court on various dates between November and January.

The recent raids and charges are part of ongoing efforts by law enforcement to target organized crime groups such as the Mongols OMCG. Acting Detective Inspector Mark Andrews emphasized that this dedicated and targeted action by law enforcement would continue to combat the emerging chapter of the Mongols OMCG in Cairns.

The charges and raids follow targeted vehicle intercepts on October 18, during which seven members of the Mongols OMCG were identified, and five notices to appear were issued for drug driving and possession of dangerous drugs, specifically steroids.
