60-Year-Old Detroit Man Sentenced to Probation for Threatening Michigan Governor and Secretary of State
A 60-year-old man from Detroit, James Toepler, has been sentenced to 15 months of probation after making threats to kill Michigan Governor Whitmer and Secretary of State Benson. He is also forbidden from engaging in malicious contact with 911 emergency response services or Secretary of State branch offices.
On November 1, Toepler will report to a specialized mental health treatment court where appropriate treatment will be determined. The court will oversee his probation and ensure the completion of his treatment.
