A recent study by global consumer electronics company, Dyson, found that nearly 60% of people in India believe that the toilet is the main area in their homes that harbour viruses. Meanwhile, 42% of respondents said that they allow pets on their sofas, unaware that their animals naturally shed tiny flakes of skin, fur or feathers that can harbour viruses and other allergens. The study, which examined cleaning motivation and habits across the world, revealed that India saw a significant increase in cleaning motivation due to increased virus awareness. However, it also highlighted that 50% of Indians are aware of the virus’ presence in dust but only 32% take action to eradicate it from their homes. Additionally, 45% of people believed that viruses live in the kitchen, while over 70% of those polled were unconcerned about removing viruses during kitchen cleaning.
