The Railway Protection Force (RPF) of the Central Railway and the Maharashtra police carried out a successful operation to rescue 59 children from human traffickers on a Bihar-Pune train. The officials arrested five accused and rescued the children from Bhusawal and Manmad stations in Maharashtra. The children, aged between eight and 15 years, were being brought from Bihar and sent to Sangli. The RPF, along with local police and a non-governmental organization, conducted checks at the stations and rescued the children. The victims were brought to safety, and the traffickers were charged under anti-human trafficking laws. The successful operation under ‘Operation AAHT’ highlights the effectiveness of coordinated efforts to combat human trafficking.
The Railway Protection Force (RPF) is responsible for the security of passengers, passenger area, and railway property on the Indian Railways. The RPF works closely with the local police and is equipped to handle crime and atrocities against women and vulnerable members of society. They have taken several measures to ensure passengers’ safety and minimize criminal activities on the railways.
The children’s rescue operation was carried out under the leadership of the Central Railway Head of the security department, Alok Bohra. Bohra has been instrumental in promoting safety measures for passengers and advocating for the Railway Protection Force’s capabilities. His efforts have led to several successful operations against criminal activities on railway premises, making travel safer for passengers.
