YAKIMA, WA – In a shocking hit-and-run incident, a 45-year-old female pedestrian was struck by a driver on Buwalda Lane in Yakima. The incident occurred on August 30th around 7:00 p.m. near the Barge-Lincoln Elementary School. The driver immediately fled the scene after the impact.
According to the Yakima police, the woman was crossing Buwalda Lane in a marked crosswalk when a vehicle turned north on East I Street and hit her. She suffered serious head trauma, but fortunately, her injuries were not life-threatening. Paramedics quickly transported her to Harborview Medical Center for treatment.
The authorities were able to locate the vehicle involved in the hit-and-run through the Flock camera system, but unfortunately, the driver remains at large. During the investigation, a portion of the roadway was temporarily closed for cleanup and preliminary duties but has since been reopened.
