45-Year-Old Man Shot Dead in Gorakhpur Over Objection to Vulgar Songs

In a tragic incident in Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh, a 45-year-old man was shot dead after expressing his objection to the playing of vulgar songs by a group of mining workers. The incident took place in Rudrapur Majwa village and also resulted in three individuals sustaining injuries, as well as the torching of several vehicles.

The unfortunate chain of events began when a few mining workers, engaged in activities in the village, started playing vulgar songs at high volume. Raj Kishore, a local resident aged 45, took offense to this and confronted the workers. A heated argument ensued between Kishore and the workers, leading to a tense situation.

Later that day, around six mining workers, accompanied by their contractor Sunil Yadav, arrived at Kishore’s house. Following a verbal altercation, they proceeded to shoot Kishore, causing his immediate demise.

The sound of gunfire alerted the villagers, who promptly gave chase to Yadav and his companions. Some individuals from the mob managed to capture a few of the men and subjected them to physical assault. Meanwhile, other enraged villagers set fire to two motorcycles and a tractor-trolley belonging to the perpetrators. Additionally, Yadav’s SUV, stationed in the neighboring Devan Deeh village, sustained damage.

To exert pressure for the swift arrest of the accused, the furious villagers blocked the traffic movement between Saunkhor and Semra villages for several hours.

Gaurav Grover, SSP Gorakhpur, swiftly arrived at the scene upon receiving reports of the incident. He confirmed that the three injured men had been admitted to the local community health center, assuring that their condition was stable.

In an attempt to defuse the situation, Rohit Maurya, SDM Gola, and circle officer Ajay Kumar Singh also hastened to the spot.

Given the escalating tensions, a significant police presence has been deployed in the region to maintain law and order.

SP (rural) Arun Kumar Singh revealed that, prompted by the SSP’s persuasion, the villagers eventually lifted the road blockade. He assured that the accused individuals would be soon apprehended.

This distressing incident serves as a reminder of the importance of respect and tolerance within society. It is crucial to address conflicts and disputes through peaceful means, rather than resorting to violence. The authorities must diligently investigate the case, ensuring that justice is served to the victim and his grieving family.
