All workers ‘physically fit and clinically stable’: Doctors
DEHRADUN: After 17 days of being trapped in the Silkyara tunnel, 41 workers have been discharged from AIIMS, Rishikesh following a 48-hour medical observation. The hospital administration has confirmed that all the workers were deemed physically fit and clinically stable. Only one worker is currently undergoing an additional checkup before being discharged.
The workers, hailing from 8 states, faced a harrowing ordeal in the tunnel. Among them, 15 were from Jharkhand, 8 from Uttar Pradesh, and 5 each from Odisha and Bihar. Additionally, 3 workers were from West Bengal, 2 from Uttarakhand, 2 from Assam, and 1 from Himachal Pradesh. The trapped workers’ families and guardians had gathered at Silkyara, clinging to prayers and hope for their safe rescue.
Numerous state governments have stepped up to support the workers’ journey back home. Sponsoring their transportation, these governments aim to ensure the safe return of those who experienced such a traumatic incident.
Speaking about the workers’ conditions, a doctor from AIIMS, Rishikesh stated, We are pleased to announce that all 41 workers trapped in the Silkyara tunnel have been discharged from the hospital. They are physically fit and clinically stable after their 48-hour medical observation. The workers’ recovery provides a glimmer of hope and relief to their families and loved ones.
